Dekalb Market

If the Brooklyn Flea has taught us anything, it's that markets in New York are as much about commerce and entrepreneurship as they are socializing and eating. This, too, is the aim of Dekalb Market, a permanent market from the Urban Space team (Union Square Holiday Market, Madison Square Market, others) featuring 22 shipping containers housing an assortment of purveyors. Nearly 50 percent of them are selling edibles: Cheeky Sandwiches has their New Orleans-style sammies; pop-up specialists Maharlika are serving modern Filipino cuisine; Joe's is on the coffee; and Robicelli's has the sweets covered with their funky little cupcakes. The other shops range from eyewear and antiques to an outpost of the artist collective 3rd Ward, which will offer agricultural workshops. Learn about chicken coops, eat some pickles...we needn't remind you why everyone's moved to Brooklyn.
